Whether it "beats" the Samsung panel for colors is debateable and perhaps based on personal preference. It's the first impressive IPS panel I've seen. That said, it has the clearest and sharpest coating on it I've seen so far (incredibly better than the BenQ, similar to the Samsung TN panel maybe slightly better). If you hold a light up to it it obviously has an anti-glare coating on it. There was speculation it would be a glossy monitor, it's not really glossy. Only real drawback is the viewing angle near the bottom has a bit of color shift. Colors were good, viewing angles were decent, not perfect but easier on my eyes than any of the previous monitors.
Headphone ports and stand were great though. Grainy, could see lines from matrix on monitor, not sharp (not sure if due to ips panel or anti-glare coating), whites always had a yellowish look to them unless you changed settings to make them bluish. Looking at it made my want to rip my eyes out of my sockets, not sure why but it did over several days, returned it.īenQ BL2711U (IPS, 27" 4k, $500) - Bad.
